Thadayam (English: Clue) is a 1997Tamilaction film directed by Ramesh Balakrishnan. The film features Vijayashanti, Ramki and Indraja in lead roles. The film, produced by Jothi Prasad Srinivasan, had musical score by Deva and was released on 28 November 1997.[1][2] The film is partly inspired by the Telugu film Gang Leader.
Plot[edit]
Chadrasekhar (Ramki), alias Chandru, is a graduate but he cannot find a job so he often goes to jail for earning a living. He lives with his friend Jeeva. Jothi (Vijayashanti), a fearless criminal lawyer, fights against injustice. Chandru falls in love with Devi (Indraja) while Jothi is in love with Chandru.

Thadam (lit. Evidence) is a 2019 IndianTamil-language action thriller film[1] written and directed by Magizh Thirumeni and produced by Inder Kumar. The film stars Arun Vijay in a double role along with Tanya Hope, Smruthi Venkat, and Vidya Pradeep in the lead roles. The music was composed by Arun Raj, with cinematography done by Gopinath and editing by N. B. Srikanth.[2] The film is being remade in Telugu as Red with Ram Pothineni in the lead role.[3]
Plot[edit]
Ezhil (Arun Vijay) is a decent construction businessman in love with a girl named Deepika (Tanya Hope), who works in his building. His lookalike Kavin (Arun Vijay in a dual role) is a thief and gambler who is always on the lookout to make fast money along with his crony Suruli (Yogi Babu). Ananthi (debutante Smruthi Venkat), an innocent girl, is in love with Kavin, though he uses her only to extract money. A young man named Akash (Yesakkiappan) is murdered by one of the two men, and Inspector Gopalakrishnan (FEFSI Vijayan), who has an old score to settle with Ezhil, plans to pin the murder on him without an investigation. However, Kavin too lands up in the prison, causing a great headache for both Gopalakrishnan and Sub-Inspector Malarvizhi (Vidya Pradeep). A cat-and-mouse game starts as the two men try to get each other into a trap, while the police are stumped. Who the murder victim is and who killed him is answered in an unexpected climax.

Production[edit]
In March 2017, Arun Vijay revealed that he would next work on a film directed by Magizh Thirumeni, which marks the second film for the duo after Thadaiyara Thaakka (2012).[4] Produced by Inder Kumar, the film was launched in April 2017 at Chennai.[5][6] Arun Vijay was reported to be playing a double role, while the film would be based on a real life story.[7] The film has three heroines, Tanya Hope, Vidya Pradeep and Smruthi Venkat.[8] Arun Raj was selected to compose the music for this film, marking his first collaboration between Magizh Tirumeni and Arun Vijay. Gopinath and N. B. Srikanth were signed on to be the film's cinematographer and editor.[9][10]FEFSI Vijayan and Meera Krishnan were also cast in the film before the film entered production in June 2017.[11][12]

Box Office[edit]
Thadam grossed Rs 2.3 cr in its third weekend, taking its estimated cumulative gross in Tamil Nadu to Rs 16.4 cr at the end of 20 days.[13]
